Las Vegas Market Trip

I'm finally getting a chance to write about our Market trip and Dad's birthday in Las Vegas plus have a few pictures to share with you.

Our last trip to Market in Las Vegas was truly a special time! I had the honor of celebrating my Dad's 80th birthday with my Mom, Dad, and friend Leslie. Our first night we stayed at Caesar’s Palace, which is beautiful by the way, and enjoyed a birthday dinner at The Palm. This restaurant has always been a favorite of my mom and dad. We shared steak and lobster between the 4 of us and ended the dinner with a scrumptious chocolate cake - what wonderful memories!! The next morning I was able to fit in an early walk while enjoying window shopping at all the hottest couture shops (and bakeries)!!



The next nights were spent at the New Aria Hotel - boy is it contemporary with all the newest technology and gadgets. Upon entering the room, the drapes open and all lights and TV come on, Wow! I have to say MY favorite thing was the scrumptious looking ice cream from Jean Philippe!!!



The botanicals and massive "bug" sculptures at the Bellagio were fun and breathtaking!




We had Monday-Thursday to spend at the Market. It was fun searching around for just the perfect stuff! We discovered a few Great new lines: Western Vintage Revival jewelry out of Oklahoma, It's a fun mix of romantic floral and western style broken china pieces from vintage plates. They are all hand-crafted and set in a high-quality sterling silver. Some pieces are enamel designs. We purchased a nice collection of smaller and larger charms and earrings.

Tunics, tights, more tunics and more tights! Well we have a fabulous collection of unusual and fun tunics in the store this season. If you like tunics, you'll love our selection. One of our new lines, Amma, does tunics with vibrant and sophisticated designs. You'll find "artsy" style tunics from Bodil, R. Browning, Cynthia Ashby and Jane Mohr. For the cowgirl in you, check out Double D's and Tasha Polizzi's selection of great cotton tunics. If you're feeling a little romantic - Surrealist has some romantic "girly" crinkled cotton styles and Johnny Was has some incredible silk tops and dresses arriving soon. Pair any of these tunics with a pair of our fabulous new tights from EG Smith or French Curve with buttons or ruching. Alternate Route to Weston

For those of you who do not know, there is bridge work in process in Farley on 45 Hwy and it is closed to thru traffic. However, there is a good alternate route to take to get to Weston! For those coming from 435 on the Kansas side, just take 435 North to I-29 North (toward St. Joe). Then take exit 20 at Tracy. Take a left at the stop sign. Go approximately 3/4 mile and you then go right on 273. It will be 6 miles to downtown Weston. Take 273 four miles. At the stoplight continue straight for 2 miles. You are now at the Main street. Take a left and we are at the base of the hill.

Dian Malouf Jewelry Trunk Show at Missouri Bluffs Boutique in Historic Weston Missouri

Missouri Bluffs Boutique in Historic Weston, Missouri is pleased to announce a Jewelry Show by Texas artist Dian Malouf. Dian is well known for creating high quality sterling silver and 14k gold jewelry. All hand made in America, Dian's designs are bold and often highly textured with a collaboration of influences from the oceans and rainforests to the Southwest. Dian is famous for her stack rings but, one of her most popular rings is a high-domed ring with a rough-cut cabochon stone, often lapis lazuli or turquoise.

Our Holiday Open House with Kelly Buntin Johnson this last weekend was a great time! We were able to discover her new collection of one-of-a-kind necklaces. She also brought along with her, husband Rhett's new collection of Christmas Ornaments and pendants in four sizes. They are absolutely must-haves for any Christmas collectors. This year he has added to his snow globe ornaments as well as his vintage tin ornaments. Kelly and Rhett searched high and low for their vintage tins and they are amazing! Missouri Bluffs July First Sunday with Kelly Buntin Johnson was too much fun! We enjoyed a refreshing citrus water (no calories!) while nibbling on a delicious roasted red pepper hummus (Cathi's new favorite), assorted cheeses and fresh fruits. It was thrilling to discover Kelly's new necklace creations. We now have 5 of her NEW one-of-a-kind necklaces in the store. They are a mix of, husband Rhett Johnson's, uncommon charms, vintage tin tags, and three dimensional domed creations paired with Kelly's charms/tags and vintage African and European beads. They are truly a Must See for any Rhett or Kelly Fan!

June's First Sunday with Kelly Buntin Johnson was lots of fun! She introduced us to a new collection of her Blessed Mother necklaces. They are most fabulous and we purchased several for the store. She has taken her charms and tags and combined them with beautiful rare vintage African and European beads to create the most beautiful artisan necklaces. Another surprise was how Kelly is pairing her hand beaded crosses with her charms and Milagros with these same beads. In addition to the Blessed Mother collection, we have added a great peregrination (heart tokens) necklace to the store. You will find several of Kelly's original pieces on-line and several more in the week to come. Also, remember every First Sunday you will discover Kelly's (and husband Rhett's) new creations!

Second Saturday with Robin VanHoozer/New Arrivals

April Second Saturday was a day of fun and enrichment!!!

Missouri Bluffs was proud to continue its devotion to local art by hosting an art showing for regionally and nationally exhibited artist, Robin VanHoozer. Robin’s work has been featured on the ABC television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and her work is currently on display in the office of Senator Claire McCaskill in Washington, D.C. Encaustic paint is Robin’s primary medium, however, she also works in oil and mixed media. Her studio is located in the historic Museum Hill District of St. Joseph.

Our April "First Sunday" Event with Kelly Buntin Johnson was lots of Fun. Kelly has created 2 new "Holy Spirit" tags and charms. They are just in time for Easter. She had several fun Bunny pieces that would be terrific for any bunny lovers. You can find a selection of Kelly's Easter tags, charms and ornaments on our online store. We were honored to make the acquaintance of Kelly "Resurrected Lovey", a vintage bunny adorned with one of Kelly's peep tag necklaces.

Kelly brought husband Rhett's beautiful vintage bird tags and ornaments. If you like birds you will love these art pieces! Stop by and check out our large selection of Kelly and Rhett's treasures. Remember that every first Sunday of the month Kelly will be in as our artist in residence. She will surprise us with new additions of original beaded pieces and new images for tags/charms.

March Happenings...

Missouri Bluffs is kicking off its Spring season with some exciting new events. Second Saturday, March 14 will feature a book signing and demonstration by Maggie Bonanami, Lexington, Missouri. Her first book, “With these hands” is published by the Kansas City Star and features step-by-step instructions and patterns for everything from a series of unique appliqués to a finished Two Penny rug. The books will be available for sale and signing from 1:00PM-6:00PM. The book is beautifully photographed and offers unique designs to enhance the décor of any home. You will enjoy watching Maggie demonstrate a work in progress and her vivacious personality. Please join us for an entertaining afternoon.

The first Sunday of every month…Think Weston, Missouri…Think respite from hustle and bustle of the big city…Think quiet and relaxing brunch…Think energetic hike in the park…Think cup of tea…And…Come see our artist-in-residence from noon until 5. Kelly Buntin Johnson will be in the store every first Sunday. She will feature original work tied to holidays, events,etc. She will be introducing new works as she creates them. Kelly will also show work by her husband, Rhett Johnson, that ties-in with her theme for that month. She will be in the store from Noon-5:00PM each First Sunday.
